Hope you all have a great Christmas and if you’re too pissed to say hello before … a good New Year. I’ll not deny that I’m jealous. That precious moment you step into a busy, warm boozer, remove a soggy jacket and over the raucous noise are presented with an xmas pint from a beaming mate is what makes all the xmas stress worthwhile. Thankfully I’ve avoided all concept of xmas and haven’t taken my jacket out the rucksack … a poor trade-off none the less.
Looks like Lidka and I are going to go on a trip up north to see the Dambulla caves and an enormous brick that fell from space into the jungle called Sigriya rock. We’re going to my workmate’s ‘Alms giving’ ceremony tonight - It’s kind of a funeral wake for all your ancestors - dinner for 200 followed by a talk from a Buddhist monk and then chanting from 11pm till 7am. Like a sober night in Glastonbury … sure it’ll be funny for the first hour ! Expect a full report soon.
Take care all,
Morg x.

Morgan, a note of Christmas blessing to you and Lidka. Wesolych Swiat. Hope you are both well and please erradicate all jealousy..this year has not followed the paths set out by the usual Christmas fairies. For example, Christmas eve twas not spent in the local pub, swilling mulled cider with nostaligic bleary eyes. No! I had the pleasure of hearing Neil sing in latin at Mass.
At present, the weather reports are threatening apocolyptic winds and people are scurring around the shops to get in the usual supplies of twigglets and oatcakes. Hope your having a great time and all the best for 2007! Look forward to hearing of your adventures

Wesolych Swiat to you too ! Great to hear from you.
I would seriously consider taking a flight home through a cyclone to hear that ! What a star. I’m picturing him in full altar-boy get-up, with a touch of the Ray Charles gospel-soul about him …
No New Year passes without me remembering the blissful ‘Hey Ya’ madness at Neils flat - man, that’s 3 years ago now !? Never has a New Year come together so spontaneously and so well.
Lidka and I had xmas dinner in an empty chinese restaurant at a table next to a gyrating animatronic Santa - the kind you get in bad shopping malls. Every 5 minutes he’d burst into life, all “Yo ho-ho’s” and over the noise of the whirring motors operating his Elvis-legs, croon some silver-screen classic - “We’ll pretend that he is Parson Brown ….” etc.We were tired after a long trip and were actually rather amused by this.

Happy New Year Morgan & Lidka.
Hope you enjoyed the warmth and sunshine. Incredibly the ‘apocalyptic’ weather was eerily calm at 1 am.
Just caught up with a friend back from Sri Lanka on the 29th. She said it had ‘gone to shit’ since she left last year (2005). OK year before last. So hope it’s not been too rubbish.
Me and Venki went to Sigiriya in 2004. It was really incredible. Looking forward to hearing your report from that trip.
Me and V were both commenting that we missed you last night. Venki was tucked up in bed by 1.30. The realisation of impending parenthood and the necesity for a good night’s sleep when your 7 months pregnant is quite sobering on 01 Jan.
The sky has just turned black and its 11.15am. So plastic ‘Elvis-legs’ Santas excepting - hope you are enjoying the warm and the excellent sea food.
Love S & V

Happy Christmas, old stick. We’ve survived a trip to visit the family and an inspection of the house by my Mum without Kate threatening to divorce me, so all in all a most successful holiday period. Hope you’re having fun out there.

Thanks all, hope to hear your New Year stories too.
Brian … I’m fine, cheers. Been away in the mountains all weekend so hadn’t seen the news. First I’d heard of it. Looks pretty bad though.
